Michael Mann’s lightly stylized take on ‘30s bank robber John Dillinger is not perfect, but it was the most refreshing and serious of the summer action pack. It’s also a good reminder that Johnny Depp is a well-rounded actor capable of more than just variations on Captain Jack Sparrow.
